Tanya Morrel, PhD

Tanya is a licensed psychologist with a style that is engaging and supportive. She views her relationship with her clients as a partnership and brings her own life experiences as a wife, mother, friend and professional with two career changes to her therapy practice. Her therapy approach is mindfulness-based with an emphasis on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). A typical session is likely to include education and skills training as well as conversation and exercises designed to shift perspective to better understand a situation, help normalize and accept thoughts and feelings, increase self-compassion and compassion for others, clarify values and set goals for change.

When working with couples, Tanya uses a combination of Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT) and ACT with the goal of helping partners share their thoughts and feelings with each other in a workable way, understand and accept each other, learn to handle their own emotions in an effective way and support each other on their individual journeys.
