Oluwafunmilayo (Funmi) Obiri, LGPC
Funmi (foo-mee) is a licensed graduate professional counselor with a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology and additional doctoral level training.
Her approach to therapy is grounded in client-centered and interpersonal therapies. She works from the belief that clients are the experts of their own lives and believes her role is to create a safe and supportive space where she and her clients can collaborate on developing goals and implementing a plan for change. As the poet John Donne said, “no man is an island, entire of itself.” Accordingly, she also integrates family, multicultural, cognitive behavioral, and feminist theories in her approach in order to address the roles of family of origin, relationships, culture, society, and national history play in her clients’ lives as she explores their presenting concerns and plans for change.
